Safari Itinerary
07:00 AM – Pick-up from Mombasa or Diani
Your guide will collect you from your hotel in Mombasa or Diani in a 4×4 safari vehicle. Enjoy a scenic drive along the coastal highway, passing through lush countryside and local villages.
08:30 AM – Arrival at Shimba Hills Gate & Briefing
Upon arrival, your guide will provide a short briefing on the reserve’s wildlife, conservation efforts, and safety guidelines. Get ready for an exciting day ahead!
09:00 AM – Morning Game Drive
Embark on a guided safari through the reserve’s diverse landscapes. Keep an eye out for:
- Elephants roaming the forested hills
- Giraffes gracefully moving through the trees
- Buffalo herds grazing in the open grasslands
- The rare Sable Antelope, exclusive to Shimba Hills
- Various bird species, including African hawks and sunbirds

10:30 AM – Guided Nature Walk to Sheldrick Falls
Accompanied by a ranger, embark on a 30-minute forest hike to Sheldrick Falls.

- Arrive at the breathtaking waterfall, where you can relax and take photos

12:30 PM – Lunch at Shimba Hills Green Safari Lodge

02:00 PM – Afternoon Game Drive & Viewpoints
After lunch, continue exploring the reserve with a second game drive, visiting key viewpoints:
- Pengo Hill – Offers sweeping views of the Indian Ocean and Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary
- Marere Dam – A popular watering hole for elephants and other wildlife
Your guide will help you spot hidden wildlife gems and share conservation stories.
03:30 PM – Begin Return Journey
Bid farewell to Shimba Hills and start the drive back to Mombasa or Diani.
05:00 PM – Drop-off at Your Hotel
Arrive back at your hotel, ending the day with unforgettable memories of Kenya’s coastal wilderness.
